We are lucky to have Christa Starn to lead you through faith and fitness with some fun and educational classes on PiYo and Yoga every week.  I teach Holy yoga at 11am Tuesdays, Wednesday PiYo at 10am and Holy Yoga at 11am, and Friday at 10 a.m. Holy Yoga.. They even provide child care for only $1 while your there getting in shape so drop by and enjoy.

PiYo is a total-body fitness system created to whip you into shape from head to toe. It combines the practices of Pilates and yoga that will help you build strength, shed weight, increase flexibility and have now a great time doing it. PiYo was created by Chalene Johnson, the founder of the Turbo Kick system. It was created for people who want the brain-body benefits of a yoga or Pilates workout, but with the next-energy, higher-sweat class.



PiYo is different than other yoga and Pilates blends in lots of ways. Even though it does blend together the above mind-body exercises, plus it adds in ingriedients fighting art and dance to produce a more pronounced, kick-booty workout. PiYo also prides itself on using upbeat, mainstream music, other than traditional Zen yoga music, to keep students excited, interested also in the zone during the workout.



The PiYo structure is a total-body strengthening workout. Poses such as plank, side plank, core work, lunges and squats are key elements to interact the large and small muscles whatever the body. By working out and in of those poses, you build strength utilizing your own body's resistance. Using some classes, light hand weights are as well employed to increase the amount of strength building. On this type of classes, your muscles are worked it really does not have to be toned and sculpted, though not bulky as in some classes.



Unlike most yoga and Pilates classes, PiYo courses are aerobic. PiYo classes link together dynamic, constantly flowing exercises to enhance your heart rate, consume calories and produce you sweat. These courses are low-impact but high energy, with moves and poses derived from traditional yoga, Pilates and dance linked together as a complete story to increase the amount of cardio and fun. These moves include flowing out and in of Warrior pose, stepping in and out of lunges and flowing through traditional Sun Salutations.

Based on PiYo teachers, these classes not only build muscle and allow you to improve your cardiac health, but they also have additional benefits. The poses and moves help add flexibility beyond just the muscles. The spiritual mentors also suggest that these workouts assist to up the range of movement as part of your joints, improve your balance, improve energy and reduce stress for a complete mind-body, blissed-out workout
