Mike was originally born and raised in San Francisco, California. He spent three years as an Accounting major at San Francisco State University before transferring to Bethany University (near Santa Cruz) where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Church Leadership. Since then he has served as a youth pastor in two churches in the East Bay, has helped plant a church in Livermore, CA, and has most recently served for eight years as the Lead Pastor of a church in Sisters, Oregon. Mike and his wife Wendy, and their four children (Kaitlyn, Michael, Kalyssa, and Brielle) are excited to now be here in Boise, helping people on their spiritual journeys to find, love, and follow Jesus Christ.
Mike McGrath came to Boise with his wife Ginger in August of 2013 and joined the Journey on their first Sunday here. Mike pastored in Leavenworth, Washington from March of 2000 to July of 2013. He is a graduate of LIFE Bible College and took his first step into full-time ministry pastoring in the Midwest for a period of ten years. After that Mike and Ginger moved back to the Great Northwest and made a new home for their family in Oregon until God opened the door to pastor in Leavenworth. Today Mike has partnered with the Journey to carry out his service for Christ in whatever capacity the Lord wills.
Mike believes that today’s culture needs a God encounter with the living God through Jesus Christ our Savior (I Corinthians 2:4-5). Mike and Ginger have four grown children and six grandchildren.
